The entire process of manufacturing is hundred per cent manual. Full-grown Khendu Leaves are handpicked from the evergreen wild jungles and are cut to the required size, using templates. Different varieties of best quality tobacco are produced from different places in the country. Depending upon the requirements of flavor, different variety of tobacco is mixed to ensure the right blend. Certain quality of tobacco is placed and rolled into the Khendu leaves and tied with a thread. After being furnace -dried, the bidies are packed. Our beedies are furnace dried in a coal-fired furnace for de-moisturizing to bring out the real flavor of tobacco.Bidies are normally rolled by skilled workers at their homes. Bidi rolling provides livelihood to the rural millions.
